Daniel Abreau, 28, and Safiro Furtado, 29, are shot and killed.

The Cape Verdean immigrants are killed while their car is stopped at a light at the intersection of Shawmut Avenue and Herald Street. They had just left the Cure Lounge at 246 Tremont Street, where one of them had accidentally bumped into New England Patriot player Aaron Hernandez, causing him to spill part of his drink. Hernandez is subsequently charged with their murders, but acquitted on April 14, 2017. After being found guilty of a separate murder and sentenced to prison, Hernandez commits suicide inside the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley on April 19, 2017.
